A 2-day National Workshop on Strengthening of Forensic Capabilities in India was inaugurated today at NICFS by Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Union Home Secretary. The keynote Address was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Seyed Ehtesham Hasnain, Vice Chancellor, Jamia Hamdard.

The workshop is being attended by 52 Police Officers/ Forensic Scientists/Academicians. The workshop aims to identify the gaps in Forensic Science education & capabilities in the country and to suggest directions for enhancing the teaching, training & research capabilities in the various fields of Forensic Science. The workshop will also propose the standardization of Forensic Science related courses being taught in various universities. The structure & scope of the proposed National Forensic Science University will also be subject of discussion during the workshop.

The Union Home Secretary also visited the various laboratories & other facilities at NICFS during his visit.
